[QUOTE="charizard1605"]I don't get it, why is Microsoft mismanaging Rare so bad? They're still some of the most talented developers around, but I feel as if their creativity is somehow being bottlenecked and restrained.BodyEliteBecause they spent millions in the buyout and what does Rare give in return? Flop after flop that doesn't sell more than 500,000 copies... I don't blame MS. The only flop Rare has made since they were bought by Microsoft was Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Everything else was atleast AA. They might not of sold well but blame that on Microsoft's fanbase.

Also Starfox Adventures was a great game it scored AA.Wow that's sad. Imagine all the great games we'd be playing if Rare stayed with Nintendo.

Rare has really gone down the crapper. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually Rare as a brand ceases to exist, because it's not worth anything anymore. Pretty soon, they'll just be liquidated and absorbed by Microsoft Game Studios UK, because there's really no point in having them exist as such a big studio when they are not even making significant products anymore. It's really sad to have seen them go down, but that seem to be the Nintendo Second Party curse. All of the second parties that Nintendo either cut loose or left Nintendo to work on better systems have all been met with untimely fates. Factor 5 went out of business after Lair flopped on PS3, Silicon Knights has pretty much dropped off the radar after having an equally high-profile flop through Too Human on the Xbox 360 that may have cost them their company, and now Rare has gone from being Nintendo's hit factory to making crappy minigame collections for Kinect. They used to be one of the industry's alpha dogs, but all of their talent left for greener pastures and the only people they left behind were the interns. Rare as we know them is nothing but the leftover husk after everyone who made it good left.

Wow I don't know whether to laugh or cry after watching that.
And the new logo is just ....ugh.:?
I think Nintendo saw the writing on the wall. Rare's games were good, but they took years to develop them. Starfox Adventures was their last Nintendo game, and it started as an N64 game. When it finally came out, it was decent but pretty much everyone agreed that it did not live up to its potential. Rare's long, inefficient development periods were no longer yielding AAA results, which meant that they were not worth keeping around anymore. Microsoft seems to be trying to bypass the long development times by makin Rare focus on quick and dirty Wii knockoffs, so that's probably the only thing MS is going to have them doing from now on. :(Such a shame they didn't stay with Nintendo. Seeing Rare as they are today is just depressing.

I think we can officially call Rare dead. I mean, Microsoft has them working on a freaking Wii Sports ripoff. :|
Oh.My.God...I came late to this threat lol. Ms you've been a bad boy! Seriouslly? Cancel Conker2???...for wii nockoffs? Wow nice, we here have the next sellouts of the industry. Why are soo many development teams beoming sellouts for cash? Oh and Ican't believe the damage control from lems, all gamers should be united against this crap. *Epic facepalm*

And it was actually a N64 game called Dinosaur Planet (which looked amazing) and Miyamato said he would like the game to feature Star Fox and the game was canceled and brought to the GC with Star Fox tacked on...

Gone down the crapper? I find it irritating how much people exaggerate on here. Yes, we can all admit that Rare are not what they used to be blah blah blah. But to say they have gone down the crapper is just plain false. Since when does a development company who has consistantly been pumping out AA games these past few years been crap?
How do you know they aren't making any significant products? By significant, Im guessing you mean "core"? Rare is a huge company, and their recent expansion proves that they are just as valuable to Micorsoft as ever. Yes, they are working on Kinect Sports (which doesn't look half bad for a Wii Sports clone) but that will not be the only thing they are working on. Common sense people.
Im not trying to claim that they are working on "core" titles too, because no one knows that. But then no ones knows that they are being forced as a Kinect mini-gamer only developer either.
oh i see
not only did perfect dark 2 change completely , , ,
conker 2 got canned, ,
so did kameo 2 -as listed on wikipedias list of canned xbox 360 games
face it ,
rare has fallen into this company we no longer know , ,
and its real bad you know why ,
cause back in the 90s they were one of the very few good companies out side nintendo , , that could develope good titles
now were left with -kenict sports- what a drag , considerin the fact i already have 2 wii sports games that have nearly all the minigames/sports included in it
all i see different is no controller and slightly better visuals, -oh and the 2 player only doesnt help either as we all know wii sports 1/2 allow 4 players in some of its games such as baseball bowling golf etc
sad day in deed could this spell the end of rare all together? i sure hope not , even though im not a 100 percent fan of them no more , they hold key licenses such as ki and perfectdark , ,
and like timesplitters 4 has parished before it it be another sad case if pd were no more! there for the closest to goldeneye like game wed get is 007 itself ,
